Aim. The methodology resource of paratext in the context of receptive practices has been outlined and the participation of paratextual markers in the transgression of text into a book has been traced. The functional role of preface in the architectonics of literary text as «a proxemic center» and a generator of receptive action mechanism has been emphasized using the example of texts of the modern Balkan literature.
Methods. The transgression of preface into the structure of artistic integrity has been analyzed in line with topical issues of receptive poetics, inter- and paratextuality of Gérard Genette, the theory of artistic integrity of Mykhailo Hirshman.
Results. The teleological essence of preface in the circle of interpretation issues of own word as well as other authors' word in the novel of Srđan Srdić «Satori» has been revealed through a receptive experiment. It has been found that three epigraphs to the work, serving as an interpretation frame, led to ideological (Barthes), methodological (Lyotard) and intermedial (post/art rock) directions of decoding the content. It has been proved that preface is capable of forming, deforming and transforming the horizon of reader’s expectation who finds himself in the situation of the specific receptive polylogue.
Scientific novelty. For the first time the transgression of preface into the structure of artistic integrity has been researched on the basis of modern Balkan prose by means of receptive and paratextual analysis.
Pactical significance. The results of the investigation can be used in receptive studies, in the researches in the functionality of paratextual components and when analyzing texts of Balkan literature and, in particular, the novel of Srđan Srdić «Satori».
