From direct democracy to electronic democracy: theoretical aspect

Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of information technology on the model of direct democracy. Theoretical aspects of the formation of e-democracy, which changes the role of citizens and expands opportunities for direct participation in the political process, are considered. The author definitions of basic terms (e-democracy, ICT, electronic tools) are given. The problem of the ratio of advantages and disadvantages of the use of ICT in democratic procedures is outlined. As a result, democratic changes were noted through Internet technologies improve political communication and create new channels for political involvement, particularly at the local level.
