Abstract. Purpose. The aim of our article is to reveal the essence of deviant behavior and to single out the feeling of loneliness as one of the determinants of deviant behavior. Methods. Research methods and techniques: analysis, synthesis, comparison of modern scientific and empirical research on the problem of deviant behavior and its determinants, as well as their generalization, classification and systematization of scientific data. Results. The article raises the topic of determinants that affect the formation of deviant behavior in adolescents. The author pays special attention to such a phenomenon as loneliness in the context of the age crisis of adolescence and personality constructs. Analyzing the data on adolescents with deviant behavior, it was noted that an acute sense of loneliness creates subjective preconditions for the emergence of antisocial criminal groups. The opinion is substantiated that the adolescent’s loneliness is the result of improper organization of communication with adults and leads to deformations of personality development, prompting the adolescent to look for groups that compensate for the lack of communication. The reasons for loneliness can be both the rejection of physiological changes in one’s body, as well as the difficulty of establishing communicative connections with peers and various internal experiences. Conclusions. For most teens, this age is a difficult stage that can affect a lifetime. It is necessary to conduct psychological work, conversations with adolescents who are experiencing loneliness, to encourage them more often, to pay attention to their merits, to their personal qualities in the presence of other team members, to try to raise their status in the group, but it should be done very carefully. do not violate the child’s personal space, otherwise he will become even more introverted. In the team itself it is necessary to hold conversations as often as possible about the values of friendship, love, mutual respect. After all, according to the results of the creative work of the teenagers themselves, the main reason for their alienation, isolation – the lack of relations in the team, «switching off» from it, and then – the characteristics of the individual.
