Implementation of the Electronic Court Concept in Criminal Proceedings
Abstract
The article highlights the process of informatization of criminal proceedings through the implementation of the Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System and its application in criminal justice. The author analyzes the evolution of legislation regarding the use of information technologies in criminal proceedings. Special attention is paid to the main innovations, including: mandatory registration of official electronic addresses for certain categories of participants, the ability to receive procedural documents in electronic format, electronic summons, and remote court proceedings outside the courthouse using participants’ own technical equipment. The positive impact of these innovations on the efficiency of criminal proceedings, particularly under martial law conditions, is substantiated. The author forecasts further development of electronic criminal proceedings toward complete electronic document management for all procedural documents between participants in criminal proceedings and the court. The article contributes to understanding current trends in the informatization of criminal proceedings and their impact on ensuring democratic principles in the development of the information society.
